Context

Nestled in the midst of 38 hectares of lush forest with 5 hectares of gardens and meadows, Argoumbat is a ecovillage located in the southwest of France. Established in 2021, they are a diverse group of individuals of all ages, each bringing their unique qualities and experiences to their shared vision. Their purpose is to consciously create a place of cooperation that allows the emergence of one’s true nature through joy and authenticity.

They want to create a conscious haven for cooperation, joy, sharing, and individual growth (within the collectivity). Paving the way for a fairer and more humane society. Embracing harmony with the natural world and progressing towards greater self-reliance.

Project

Argoumbat is a dynamic ecosystem that celebrates life and creativity, where each person/family has their private space. The common areas facilitate gatherings and shared activities, promoting a balance between private and collective life. Residents and outside people are encouraged to propose activities across various domains, fostering diversity in experiences and projects. The collective maintains strong connections with their neighbors and local producers, emphasizing inclusivity and a network of exchanges, ideas, and shared skills.

Idea + Moodboard

Designated as the project’s mascot, this creature / dragon / chimera appears to be the guardian of the place, without whose cooperation nothing can be accomplished (according to the tradition in Asia, the success of a project depends on the guardian of the place by 60%). A legendary creature, a sort of dragon that might seem like a utopia, much like this project, but here at Argoumbat, it become a tangible reality.

In the context of this ecovillage project, the "chimera" symbol has a double meaning. On one side it metaphorically refers to an ideal that may seem fantastical, as project involves a combination of different elements, ideals, or goals that may seem challenging to achieve. But on the other side, this creature also stands for its incredible powers that will help making this dream come true.
